Local resident on reality TV show
University of Utah student Jennifer Hillam, a 21-year-old Cottonwood Heights resident, is among those vying for a personal $10,000 prize and a $10,000 prize for her school. She is among contestants in the Zions Bank Cheapster reality series “airing” on a Facebook site.
Hillam, who is majoring in exercise physiology, will be involved in the series’ final phase, a surprise challenge for each of 10 remaining contestants. Viewers will help determine the finalists through online voting between Nov. 5-11.
Now in its second season, Cheapster was developed after Zions Bank research conducted in 2011 found Millennials ages 13 to 28 years old were less aware of effective money management techniques than other age groups, and some rely on extreme budgeting behaviors. Cheapster shares money-management tips and educates this generation as they prepare for their financial futures. Millennials are educated firsthand about how certain Zions Bank products, including checking accounts and bank cards, are used.
