Election results confirmed in Holladay, Cottonwood Heights
Incumbent mayors Dennis Webb in Holladay and Kelvyn Cullimore Jr. in Cottonwood Heights were re-elected during this year's municipal elections held Nov. 3.
Webb defeated challenger Barry Topham, a member of the Holladay City Council, by a vote count of 3,337 to 2,297, according to final numbers posted by the Salt Lake County Clerk's office.
Cullimore was running unopposed, and garnered 2,852 votes in Cottonwood Heights. Both mayors were elected to new four-year terms.
In council races, the closest race was in Cottonwood Heights District 3, where Nicole Omer edged incumbent Don Antczak by six votes, 549-543. That race was so close that a state law-mandated recount was held on Nov. 20, confirming the results. In CH District 4, Tee Tyler received 642 votes to gain election to that seat. The incumbent councilmember, Bruce Jones, dropped out of the race after the filing date deadline, and resident Bob Warnick entered that race as a write-in candidate. He received 58 votes.
In Holladay, incumbent councilmember Pat Pignanelli was re-elected in District 3, beating challenger Steve Fotheringham 527-481. In District 1, newcomers Sabrina Petersen and Carol Scott raced each other, with Petersen elected by a margin of 638-504. Both had defeated incumbent Grant Orton and two other challengers in the September primary.
All newly-elected officials will be sworn in and take office in January.
